Skyward Sword Upgrade Guide

Upgrade to the Banded Shield

“This shield is much more durable than the standard Wooden Shield.”

  X2 X1 X1 X30
Obtaining this shield is a pretty simple task. Of course, you must first have the Wooden Shield, so make sure you don’t get it burned up or broken, otherwise you’ll have to pay for repairs. Amber Relics can be found in the forest, Monster Claws can be obtained from Keese, and Jelly Blobs can be obtained from Quadro Babas and Chuchus.

Once you’ve obtained these items, return to the Sky and head to the Scrap Shop in the Bazaar. You will need 30 Rupees for this upgrade.

Upgrade to the Reinforced Shield

“This heavy shield is even tougher than the standard iron shield.”

  X2 X2 X2 X50
This shield won’t catch on fire, so it’s a good thing to upgrade once you get to Eldin Volcano. It’s also especially useful against the Lizalfos you’ll be facing there.

You should have plenty of Ornamental Skulls after clearing the Forest Temple, being that there are plenty of Bokoblins there. You will have to dig up some Eldin Ore though, so you’ll need the Digging Claws in order to make this upgrade. Once you’ve obtained these items, return to the Sky and head to the Scrap Shop in the Bazaar. You will need 50 Rupees for this upgrade.
