Ocarina of Time

Storm clouds, heavy with their burden of darkness, gather around the kingdom of Hyrule. The peaceful citizens of the land know nothing, but there are others who sense the growing disquiet; they can feel that the realm teeters on the precipice of a great evil. The sleep of those special few, once blissful, is now troubled with nightmares…

Visions twist in the dreams of Link, the “boy without a fairy” who lives among the children of the forest. In his slumber Link sees a stormy night with rain thrashing in fat drops on a vast plain. A sinister man, pursuing a beautiful young Princess who rides hastily to escape him.

From his reverie, Link is awoken by Navi, a fairy messenger from the Great Deku Tree: the venerable forest guardian would speak with Link at once. The Great Deku Tree tells Link that it is dying, cursed by a wicked man of the desert. This evil man is on a ceaseless quest to enter the Sacred Realm connected to Hyrule, for in that Sacred Realm lies a divine relic of great power: the Triforce.

The withering guardian of nature entreats Link and Navi to stop the wicked man: their first step is to leave the safety of their peaceful forest home and seek out the Princess of Destiny..

Our hero travels to Hyrule Castle, meeting Princess Zelda, who is revealed to be the one that he seeks. Princess Zelda shows Link that the dark figure haunting his dream was Ganondorf, leader of the Gerudo. She explains that the Triforce has the power to grant the wishes of its bearer, but that a wish made by one with an evil heart will bring absolute destruction and that Ganondorf’s blackened heart is set upon it.

So begins Link’s story – he must protect the Triforce, unravel Ganondorf’s evil deeds and save the land of Hyrule! What follows is a journey of friendship, valour, courage and gruelling battles; a fable of the sweetest meetings and noblest partings.

This tale will chart a course across the ages, but if you desire the rest of the story, you must live it yourself and become the legendary Hero of Time…
