The bright side is that, whether your membership is paid or free, you’ve been accumulating points for every trade and purchase you’ve made (excluding digital goodness like map packs, among many other things you should accrue points for….), and GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards program has some nice Zelda prizes every now and then. We’ve seen hats, wallets, DVDs (many of which are still available), but some of the nicer-looking stuff has only recently been added to the physical rewards list. The author compares Ocarina of Time‘s version of Hyrule Castle and its surrounding environment to real-world locations, scales in-game models for accuracy, and even compares Dollar-to-Rupee ratios. Hyrule Castle is also among Movoto’s priciest evaluations in terms of dollar (rupee!) per square foot in their collection of fantasy real estate. Pretty impressive! We at KOH wonder if the Knights’ Quarters are included!

“What if Link could have the same power?” -Eiji Aonuma

It seems like this time around, Aonuma is the one coming up with these unique ideas in A Link to the Past 2, instead of Miyamoto. In the interview with CNET, Aonuma repeatedly stressed the importance of playing the game in 3D, but he assures gamers that it is enjoyable with or without it, and he believes that A Link to the Past 2 will be the most inventive Zelda game yet!

Nintendo has announced a brand new Zelda title for the 3DS, implementing Miyamoto’s plans and inspiration from A Link to the Past. The game, available Holiday 2013, takes place in the same “game world” as ALttP but is not a remake. Who’s excited for Zelda 3DS?!

There is a ’2′ in the Japanese title… From a story perspective there are connections… o it does fall after A Link to the Past. And it’s set in the same world, but introduces that new gameplay mechanic. So, yeah, I guess by that definition…Bill Trinen, Director of Product Marketing, NoA

Social commentary aside, Clockwork Empire retains Zelda elements from classic and recent Zelda titles, keeping true to the series’ mythos. Sure it stretches and breaks the canon with some minor details, but that’s beside the point: the story is believable and captures the core of The Legend of Zelda.

Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and a lot of the game’s themes and designs are carried over and refreshed. Zelda’s costumes include a Sheikah outfit, Hylian Knight Armor (Magic Armor), and an Airship Captain’s costume. However, there are classic names and titles used within the story that will please even the oldest Zelda fans: The Gauntlet of Gamelon, Calatian Empire, and Dragmire. And hey, Midna is in it, too! Aside from all that, the artwork is beautiful and fits neatly between Zelda’s whimsy and mystery, truly capturing the feel of an land just waiting to be explored.

The idea around this story really does show that Zelda would make just as great a hero as Link, and if it includes the right elements, would fit right in with the rest of the Zelda universe. What do you think, should Nintendo take a stab at this concept, not specifically Clockwork Empire, in the future? Should Link, the iconic boy clad in green, remain a male avatar? Do you even care as long as you get a good Zelda game out of it?
