“The Legend of Zelda™: A Link Between Worlds is a new game with a new storyline set in the world of the Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda™: A Link to the Past.”
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, has a confirmed release for North America in November 22, 2013 and will be a (spiritural?) sequel to the SNES 1992 classic, A Link to the Past. While the sequel does indeed have the same overworld, the game itself is not a remake. A Link Between Worlds will be one of the few games utilizing a great amount Nintendo 3DS’ power, running at an impressive 60FPS, even with the 3D effect turned on.
Link has the ability to turn into a painting in this game, enabling a new kind of interaction with the surrounding environments. A purple meter drains while in painting mode, revealing that Link can only maintain this form for a certain period of time. The Dark World will also be making another appearance, though the canonical possibility (after series confirmations in Hyrule Historia) behind this has not yet been revealed. Link’s newest ability and texture changes can be viewed through screenshots and videos here on Knights of Hyrule!
