Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess HD remakes might be a possibility for future Zelda projects, and fans are already excited! During an interview with Polygon, Aonuma commented on his stance when it comes to giving older games HD remakes. He mentioned that they didn’t just work on The Wind Waker, but Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword as well.
“When we were thinking about the new Zelda for Wii U, which is something we’re actually working on, we needed to experiment with a variety of graphic styles and it was part of that process we took some existing Zelda games and made them HD just to see what would happen,” he said. “In doing so we realized that The Wind Waker graphic style, the art style, really represented well on the Wii U given the graphic capabilities of the new system. It really brought that world to life.”
I can’t say that the possibility is zero that those will be made into HD….
“I can’t say that the possibility is zero that those will be made into HD, but right now I need to work on the next installation in the series so I don’t have the bandwidth to do that right now,” he said. “But maybe it will happen if someone else does it.”

Does this mean we’ll be seeing a third party company dust these titles off and remaster them similar to what Grezzo did with Ocarina of Time 3D? Is it too soon to attempt something like this with Skyward Sword? Perhaps those involved in mod communities such as Dolphin will be able to give Nintendo that extra push to give the fans Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess HD remakes. After all, if there are already fans creating HD versions of these games, then there is already some demand for them… but will it be enough to encourage Nintendo to give the go-ahead for such projects?
